Planet Watch -- June 2011


Mercury moves to superior conjunction this month and will not be visible until it reappears in the evening skies next month.
Venus remains visible but low over the eastern horizon before sunrise.
Mars is visible over the eastern horizon before sunrise, and passes by the open star cluster the Pleiades around the middle of the month.
Jupiter shines brightly above the southeastern horizon at sunrise.
Saturn Saturn will be visible most of the night and offers an interesting viewing opportunity as it pairs up with the star Porrima, a 3.5 magnitude star in Virgo.
