Planet Watch -- August 2015

Mercury is very low above the western horizon this month and is best viewed from the southern hemisphere. If there is a low enough horizon watch on August 6th for Jupiter, Mercury, and Regulus to be in a close triple conjunction.
Venus moves into inferior conjunction this month and will become visible as a morning planet, rising before the Sun, later next month.
Mars rises before the Sun and as it rises earlier each day Mars gradually becomes more visible in the morning skies. Watch on August 20th and 21st as Mars passes across the stars of the open star cluster M-44, aka the 'Beehive Cluster', in Cancer the Crab.
Jupiter moves into solar conjunction this month and will not be visible until later next month.
Saturn is visible over the southwestern horizon at sunset and sets around midnight local time.
